Tim Butler Bio
Tim Butler formed MeritBSC in 1986 to serve clients via Business Valuation, Strategy and Advice projects focused on improving profits, growth, ROE and market valuation.
Clients span public and private companies and include CEO’s, Division Leaders, Boards of Directors and Private Company Owners. Client relationships run deep, ranging from months to years to decades. Clients rehire MeritBSC on projects more than 90% of the time, testament to the quality and value of our work.

Prior to MeritBSC, Tim was a Senior Consultant with Deloitte working primarily with banks and hotels. Tim then joined Marakon, a share owner focused, value based planning firm, where Tim was elected Partner. Tim started his career in Washington, DC with the Legal Services Corporation.
Tim earned his B.S. degree in Economics (Finance) from The Wharton School, his B.A. in Sociology (Political Economics) from the University of Pennsylvania, and Bath University in England, and his MBA at Harvard Business School.
Raised in a New York City family owned, wholesale distribution business, Tim Butler got an early start in business working with his father, an owner operator entrepreneur with an investment mindset. His heroes are his father, Warren Buffett, Bob Dylan and Thomas Jefferson.
